Mitch Hedberg is Incredible. Check out this Cartoon and Bio.

Twelve or so years ago my mother celebrated her birthday at the Laugh Stop in Houston, Texas.  I don’t remember who headlined, couldn’t even say if they were male or female.  My entire memory of the evening was of the second comic, the middle one; a low, slow, stoneresque delivery of non sequiturs and one-liners made Mitch Hedberg one of my favorite comics before he was half way through his set.

Things I remember: he paced around and I never saw his face, he covered his head in a hoodie throughout.  My family would recall lines he used in the show for the next few weeks, his stuff is funny.   Another month went by and I saw Hedberg in a Comedy Central program.  He would be featured ten times on David Letterman over the next nine years.  Hedberg developed a cult following during this time, members of the audience would yell the punch lines before the joke was over.

"I like an escalator because an escalator can never break, it can only become stairs. There would never be an escalator temporarily out of order sign, only an escalator temporarily stairs. Sorry for the convenience."  --Mitch

Natubaton Jonnyquest posted this cartoon to Natuba a earlier in the week.  It reminds us of the tragic way so many great comedians leave us; on the evening of March 29, 2005, Hedberg was found dead in his hotel room in Livingston, New Jersey, a drug overdose took his life.

"I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too"  --Mitch

Sucks.  My friends all really like Hedberg.  We drank beer and listened to some audio of his sets, mixed in some Bill Hicks for an even more depressing night of hilarious comedy.

"Next time I move, I hope I get a phone number that's easy to remember, like 222-2222. People will say 'Mitch, how do I get a hold of you?' and I'd say 'Just press 2 for a while. And when I answer, you will know that you've pressed 2 enough.'"  --Mitch

Check out the websites and read the jokes, your gonna love his material.  I encourage you to download audio, or video if you can find some.  Mitch Hedberg left this world at a young age but his comedy will remain bitingly funny for years to come.[

"I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're going and hook up with them later."  --Mitch
